Essential Oil Maintenance for Your Coarse Material Washer

The heart of your washer's performance lies in proper oil maintenance. When checking oil levels, ensure your machine is in operating position but not running. The ideal oil level should align with the pipe plug opening on the gear case's front.

For optimal performance, Eagle Iron Works recommends:
• Annual oil changes or replacement after 2,000 operating hours
• Using climate-appropriate oil viscosity
• Maintaining consistent oil brand usage to prevent compatibility issues

Oil Capacity Guidelines by Machine Size:
• 20" and 24" models: 3 gallons
• 30" and 36" models: 14 gallons
• 44" and 48" models: 19 gallons
• 54" models: 34 gallons

As a trusted Eagle Iron Works distributor, KastRock has witnessed firsthand how proper sand classification transforms construction materials. Our decades of experience supporting concrete and asphalt producers has shown that achieving precise material specifications isn't just about having the right equipment—it's about optimizing every aspect of the classification process. Understanding Sand Classification Requirements Construction-grade sand demands precise specifications, particularly regarding fine material content. Most concrete and asphalt applications strictly limit the amount of minus-100 and minus-200 mesh materials. While many natural sand deposits and crushed stone sands contain excess fines, including silts, dust, and clay, Eagle Iron Works Classifying Tanks excel at removing these unwanted materials. How Eagle Iron Works Classifying Tanks Operate These advanced classification systems feature six to eleven valve stations, depending on the tank size. Each station incorporates sophisticated paddle sensing devices and hydraulically operated valves, controlled by a bridge-mounted system spanning the tank's length. The classification process follows a natural progression: when sand slurry enters the tank, larger particles settle in the initial stations, while progressively finer materials settle in subsequent sections. The system's intelligent design uses paddle sensors to detect optimal discharge timing, automatically triggering valves through PLC control when material levels reach predetermined points. Optimizing Your Classifying Tank Performance 1. Water Management Fundamentals Proper water flow is crucial for effective classification. Eagle Iron Works recommend following these established guidelines: • Calculate 100 U.S. GPM of water per STPH of silt feed • Plan for 10 U.S. GPM of water per STPH of sand solids feed Water integration occurs through three primary methods: • Initial slurry feed • Rising Current Classifier manifold • Recirculation systems (when necessary) 2. Rising Current Classification Enhancement The Rising Current Classifier (RCC) system represents a significant advancement in classification technology. When installed in the first three stations, RCCs dramatically improve separation efficiency by: • Maintaining smaller particles in suspension • Facilitating precise settling of larger particles • Enabling superior product gradation control For optimal performance, we recommend balancing water distribution between slurry feed and rising current, with approximately 25-33% of total water flow dedicated to rising current operation. 3. Weir Configuration for Peak Performance Proper weir adjustment is essential for achieving optimal classification and silt removal. Eagle Iron Works recommends: • Maintaining level adjustable weirs for balanced overflow • Strategic weir height adjustment for enhanced minus-200 mesh control • Regular inspection of weir settings for consistent performance 4. Paddle Sensor Optimization Based on our extensive field experience, Eagle Iron Works found that paddle height configuration significantly impacts classification efficiency: • Higher settings in the first three stations • Gradually lower settings in subsequent stations • Fine-tuned adjustments based on material characteristics 5. Preventive Maintenance Protocol To ensure continuous, reliable operation, Eagle Iron Works recommends implementing a comprehensive maintenance strategy: • Regular system inspections • Maintaining critical spare parts inventory • Following manufacturer-specified maintenance schedules • Immediate attention to any operational anomalies Ensuring Long-Term Success As your Eagle Iron Works distributor, KastRock is committed to helping you maximize the performance of your classification system. Our technical expertise and dedicated support ensure your Classifying Tank operates at peak efficiency, delivering precisely specified materials while minimizing operational disruptions. Regular maintenance combined with optimal operational practices will extend equipment life and maintain consistent product quality. Efficient liquid-solid separation is a cornerstone of success across many industries. At KastRock, we deeply understand the critical nature of this process. Our strategic partnership with Eagle Iron Works enables us to offer Diefenbach thickeners, globally renowned solutions for optimizing process water recovery, minimizing waste volume, and enhancing operational efficiency. Leveraging decades of expertise and an unwavering commitment to innovation, Diefenbach thickeners are the premier choice for applications spanning mining and aggregate processing to CCD washing and beyond. Understanding Diefenbach Thickeners Diefenbach thickeners represent a class of industrial equipment meticulously designed to facilitate efficient separation of solids from liquids. These thickeners are adept at densifying products to streamline processing, clarifying wastewater streams, and managing tailings in mining and aggregate applications. Whether the target product is the clarified liquid or the thickened solids, Diefenbach thickeners consistently deliver exceptional outcomes. Diefenbach Thickener Types Diefenbach's offerings encompass a diverse range of thickener types, each engineered to address distinct needs and applications. Their Elevated High-Rate Thickeners (HR Series) are optimally suited for immediate recovery of reusable process water or the separation of waste solids from leach liquor. These thickeners boast a fabricated sag steel floor on larger diameter tanks, providing open access under the tank for efficient underflow pumping. For applications mandating the highest concentration of solids and maximum recovery of process water or leach liquor, Diefenbach's Paste Thickeners (P Series) are the ultimate solution. These thickeners possess the capability to achieve higher underflow densities than conventional thickeners, making them ideal for waste volume minimization and water recovery maximization. The Science Behind Diefenbach Thickeners Diefenbach thickeners are the product of meticulous engineering aimed at optimizing the liquid-solid separation process. Each thickener comprises a tank, feed pipe and feedwell, rake (and pickets, depending on the thickener style), a bridge containing the rake drive mechanism, and a chemical dosing system. The slurry feed enters the thickener from a de-aeration tank and into the feedwell, where chemicals are introduced to facilitate rapid settling of the solid particles. These flocculants or coagulants attract the fine solids in the slurry to form larger, heavier particles that sink to the bottom of the tank. As the flocculated solids settle, the rotating rake mechanism assists with guiding them toward the discharge cone in the center. The thickened solids are then discharged out the bottom of the tank and sent to waste or further processing. The solids-free liquid (or liquor) overflows the weir surrounding the top of the tank and is sent for further processing or reuse as process liquid. The Diefenbach Advantage Diefenbach thickeners are the culmination of decades of knowledge and experience in the realm of liquid-solid separation. These thickeners leverage computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling and material testing in Diefenbach's in-house lab to achieve the ideal separation for a vast array of applications. Diefenbach thickeners benefit from decades of experience and hundreds of installations. With features such as the company's innovative feedwell, which allows for the optimum distribution of flocculated solids throughout the tank, Diefenbach thickeners deliver unparalleled results. Key Features and Benefits of Diefenbach Thickeners Diefenbach thickeners offer a range of advanced features and benefits that set them apart from the competition. These include: • Advanced modern feedwell and auto-dilution options: State-of-the-art feedwell designs allow Diefenbach thickeners to achieve maximum density underflow with reduced needs for polymers. Auto-dilution options further increase the rate of settling to reduce the size of equipment required and maximize thickener clarity and underflow density. • Advanced automation and remote monitoring packages: Diefenbach thickeners are available with advanced automation and remote assistance packages for optimized operation and minimal downtime. • Density monitoring and automated rake lifts: Diefenbach thickeners come with density monitoring systems that allow for optimal control of bed level, underflow density and automation of underflow pumping and rake lift settings. • Liquid recovery rates of 85% or greater: Diefenbach thickeners generate a virtually solids-free liquid overflow, which can then be sent for further processing or reused as process liquid elsewhere in the plant. • Reduce volume of waste material: By separating out the liquid, Diefenbach thickeners can reduce the volume of material reporting to storage or reduce the load on downstream equipment such as a filter press.
